The first generation of the BMW Z4 consists of the BMW E85 and BMW E86 sports cars. The E85/E86 generation was produced from 2002 to 2008. The E85/E86 replaced the Z3 and is the third model in the BMW Z Series. Initial models were in the roadster body style, with the coupé body style being added in 2006. In February 2009, the BMW Z4 began production as the successor to the E85/E86.

I was driving home at 40MPH with over 4000+ RPMs!.
2006 Z4 3.0Si, 65,000 miles, 2nd owner, very little issues, driven mostly only on weekends. About a month ago, was on the highway, car was fully warmed up, started driving her a little hard, downshifted to 4th, accelerated and tried to shift up to 5th, she lagged made a slight "squeal" then finally shifted up to 5th and into 6th.

I have 2009 35i aswell. Started noticing some slippage on Sport+ hard shifts and gearbox had some problems in automatic mode. It hold on to gears longer and wasnt so smooth around town. This happened around 60k miles. Had an oil and filters service done. My DCT had leaked a bit at some point from the pan gasket aswell.
